Our musicians perform in our Christmas and Spring concerts. Select students are invited to join the diocesan Honor Band and perform in a special annual concert at St. Anthony's H.S. each Spring. Many students elect to participate in the annual NYSMMA Spring festival.

Want Middle School Sports? Think "Catholic Schools!"

Sixteen years ago, Catholic Schools on Long Island offered few, if any, inter-school athletic competitions. Thanks to the work of many wonderful volunteers from our parishes and schools, the CMSAA came to be, and that all changed!

Now, in this era of austerity and cuts in budgets all around us, the Catholic Schools offer an array of middle school sports opportunities that is tough to beat.

At Holy Angels, our middle school students have the opportunity to participate in the following sports:

Cross Country (CMSAA Boys All Saints Cup Team Champion 2018 - 2019)

Bowling  (CMSAA Champion 2017, 2018, and 2019)

Our athletes are encouraged to be dedicated, fair athletes who start every game with a prayer.  Annually, our athletes and their coaches are recognized at a Sports Award Dinner.

Holy Angels 7th and 8th graders have the opportunity to earn membership into the National Junior Honor Society.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle-level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

Eligibility:

Students are eligible for an invitation to join the National Junior Honor Society in the 3rd trimester of 7th and 8th grade.  If a student wishes to join, they must meet the following criteria:

• An average of 90% or higher in the 5 main subjects:
  • Religion, ELA, Social Studies, Math & Science.
• Only Excellent or Satisfactory for Effort and Conduct across ALL subjects on their report cards.
• No detentions served
  • Any demerit points the student received will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

If a student meets these criteria, they will receive an invitation to complete the application process after the 2nd trimester report card.  In that application, the student must show evidence of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, Service & Citizenship within their lives.

Ceremony

If chosen for induction, students participate in a formal ceremony in May, which includes the lighting of the candles and an exclamation of each quality. A teacher or staff member is also elected as an honorary member because they fit all of the above qualities.  All inducted receive a certificate and pin, and at graduation, they wear blue cords to show that they were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. The names of these students are announced at graduation and they stand up for recognition.

We are very proud of our past inductees and look forward to celebrating those students who will be inducted in the future.
